Midsumma Festival Pride at Coles
31 January 2017
On Sunday 15 January, the Midsumma Festival - Victoria's arts and cultural festival for the LGBTI community - kicked off with Carnival Day, an all-day-and-night party in the park at Melbourne's Alexandra Gardens.
This year, Midsumma Festival is celebrating 30 years of championing diversity, and as a Silver Sponsor of the event, Coles helped support what’s turning out to be the festival’s best year yet.
Our Coles Food Truck joined in the celebrations by serving more than 3,500 party-goers and providing more than 1,500 bottles of Coles Brand water, 1,200 Coles Ice Cream Sandwiches, and more than 200 slices of our delicious Coles Rainbow Cake! Our Pride sponsor David Brewster, and our Pride@Coles committee were busy all day handing out our Coles goodies to the crowd of thousands.
Sunday 29 January was Melbourne's march of diversity celebration - the Midsumma Pride March - which wound its way through the streets of St Kilda during the second week of the festival. Our Pride@Coles committee proudly marched under a Coles banner to celebrate our support of the LGBTI community.

Pride@Coles
Starting as a grassroots effort in late 2015, a collection of dedicated Coles team members wanted to drive awareness in this space and Pride@Coles was formed and formally brought into our overall diversity strategy here at Coles.
In 2016, we have partnered with Pride in Diversity, Australia's first and only national not-for-profit employer support program for all aspects of LGBTI workplace inclusion. This partnership will help us drive positive change across our four focus areas, internal policies, communication, community engagement and internal events.
